what are you going to use to replace all those rivets?

I hate the rivets on my case, stops me from taking apart to paint.

To get cammo look, first paint base colour. Then tear strips of newspaper.....stick and paint with secound and/or third coulour..sand paint "edges" and clearcout.works with model airplanes should work here....try on a flat piece of scrap. If you want the cammo to "flow" around the case you will have to put the case back together first.

The newspaper can also be in "blobs"....tear holes in newspaper. Hope this gives you the inspration...nice mod you got going there

Hey thanx for the useful advise - rep 2 u
While I will not do the cammo look this time around, it gives me something to work with when I get bored with this mod and decide to give it bit of a makeover in the future. Also my friend is talking about modding his ancient Aopen full tower case (circa 2001)...hmmmm.

how cheap is that carbon fiber film? How easy is it to install (you can wait until after you install it, unless you've used it before)? And does it add to the strength of whatever you apply it to, or is it just for looks?
sorry for all the questions
I was kind of expecting to see dark green or black acrylic, not red . Not saying red won't look good, because I can't tell until I see it assembled

good luck on the acrylic, do you have any experience working with it?

I don't know the price or where you can buy it, but the CF film (from my understanding) is just like stick on window tint. Its just a printed pattern, not real CF and does not add rigidity.

the carbon fibre film appears to be a simple stick-on stuff but good quality. I had a look at some mods of other ppls where it was used and it looked quite real. I will use it to cover the 2 silver front posts and if it will look crap I'll take it off.

The sheet is 12" x 15" and cost me AU $10. You can get it from Mnpctech where u r.

Regarding acrylic. This stuff was tricky to photograph because even with the protective film off on both side and using camera without flash, I was unable to capture how transparent it is. In reality it is much more sattle and not garish red like on the photo. I hope that once I put it in the case and apply some lighting, it will look more realistic in the photos

I dont have much experience working with acrylic but at least have been reading lots of guide on OCN and elswhere so I hope for some success. I already got some scrap clear acrylic to practice on with drill and saw bits - been learning stuff...
