I've been following this thread from the beginning, and you started here with no reps and practically no posts. You were just a nobody on the forum, but I bet everybody on here knows you now. That's a testament to how awesome this build log is.

You've really done a great job of keeping us in the loop and showing us all of the complications and how everything comes together. You've got some great original ideas, and your case is inspiring, to say the least.

Now you just need to finish the case already and show us what you're going to do with the "guts", because I know those are gonna be rad as well.

I can't wait to see the finished product!
I appreciate your recognition of my efforts
Comments like these are the best barometer of the quality of work Im putting out - as long as they keep appearing, I know Im doing the right thing.

I never expected this project would take so long but that's because I was a complete noob at this so had no idea. Now I know to triple any time estimate to give me more realistic time frame.

I'm still trying to find a way to make a circuit like that (for my first car which I don't have yet )
Sure did cross my mind as soon as I realised what this piece looks like...

Thanks repo - I was bit worried when I did that piece. I thought I would get criticized for making it too easy!

While waiting for the 'Cylon' piece to dry, I commenced work on the LHS panel.

This is what I am starting with

Problem area
Right in the middle of the pic you can see how the aluminum channel is showing through the current opening.

My intentions:

I came up with one possible solution to 'problem area'
Get a long rectangular, narrow piece of metal, have 'Firefight' engraved in it and then simply bolt it onto the panel.
This will cover up the problem and also serve as decoration.
I will elaborate on this in near future.

Comments and suggestion re side panel are welcome.
----

Couple of other minor updates:
I painted the rear top plate blocking 120mm hole - 3 x matt black + 2 coats clear.

The 'Cylon' piece. 3 x black + 2 x clear

(damn dust)

I'll be back soon

honestly, I would just take apart the front ducts and paint those aluminum pieces black.
But it took be a while to even figure out what the "problem spot" was . When I got to the 3rd to last picture I got it.

All the alu channels will be covered with carbon fibre film.
The problem is that when I will 'square' that round hole, the front/vertical alu channel will be visible through the window and I don't want it to happen, hence the idea with a text logo bar.

The last thing I did today (I am ahead 12hours of east coast USA) was to cut the first window.

I removed the front duct assembly to gain access to the inside of the left panel from the other side. Then I was able to trace the outline of the desired cut out.

You can see I had a minor mishap with the jigsaw in lower right corner but all will be OK, I promise

'till next time.
