Thanks for suggestions re my acrylic mishap.
The acrylic requires significant amount of heat before it starts to bend. I was surprised when I had to use the gun on high setting for at least 2 minutes before acrylic reacted. The stuff gets so hot that it feels hot even when I wear leather work gloves.
Once the bending starts I need to be able to continue heating up as I feed the piece over the cylinder. The current cylinder becomes VERY hot and start to deform.
If I stop for a while the acrylic appears to loose heat quicker than the cylinder. Once I resume heating up the acrylic, the cylinder starts to react before acrylic does.
I don't think using ice would work - it would melt very quickly- thanx for the suggestion though.
Now I am looking for metal template.
Anyway, I welcome this challenge - makes the mod more interesting for me.
