Hey all, im planning to install a 9600gt on a matx mobo, now I have never had a mATX mobo and im just wondering if a 9600gt would fit on it or not. It's a Palit 9600GT.

thanks

If your motherboard has a PCI express x16 slot it should fit. Do you already have the motherboard or is it a planned purchase? If you already own it, throw a measuring tape to it. From what I understand the 9600GT is the same size as the 8800GT that you already have. You could then measure that and compare. The question then is will it fit in your little micro ATX case; what kind of case do you have?

I think my case is an ATX case, not sure what it is exactly but its some ACM Business Computer case. I already have the mobo, which is an ASROCK-AlivenF6P. As long as it fits the slot will it be ok?

Yup, it will fit into your PCI express slot. The only thing is to check your motherboard documentation to see if it's an x8 or x16 slot. You probably already know this, but the x16 will provide full bandwidth for the GPU; an x8 slot will halve that.

8x is fine for a 9600GT.

It is indeed a PCI-E x16 slot. Just wanted to make sure it would fit, thanks for the replies.
