Running Vista on weaker/underclocked parts.

Here I got Vista running, with Aero and Glass, on an underclocked AMD processor (1GHz), 1GB of slow RAM, and a crappy 6150LE integrated graphics processor. I'm wondering why everyone says you need a good computer to run Vista; like this I'm still able to open many programs, and experience no slowdown or stutter.

check how much of you cpu you are using idle. This means there is less processor left for doing other tasks.

With no programs open, it ranges from 1% to 5%.

You're telling us it runs well, but a still screenshot doesn't prove it to us. For all we know, it could have taken 10 min to get all those windows up there before you took the screenshot!

Anyway, it should run *decently* with 1GB of RAM.

Yep, I'd believe that. I had vista running fine on my old single core athlon setup (3700+) with 1 gig of very slow ddr. You certainly don't need a quick dual core, 2 gigs of ram and all the other farcical requirments you see banded about

It's because people haven't ran Vista with bad systems.

I however have ran it with a Celeron M 1.5Ghz, 512MB of RAM, and a Radeon XPress 200M with 64MB shared. Ran Vista beta RC2 and Vista Ultimate retail with aero glass and was surprising responsive. Much more so then XP and Ubuntu were on that same computer while tripe-booting.

In fact, here was my RAM usage with WLM and Firefox (Though you can't see them in this picture.
