I need some help understanding orthos - Page 2

Yep. It may take a few minutes or more for you to reach your max temp though. Also, the "Small FFT's" test in Orthos will stress your CPU the hardest by utilizing the most L2 cache - and subsequently generating the most heat. Try it out and see.

I say yes. Running Orthos for 8+ hours without errors indicates a stable CPU at your current settings.

My own method is more thorough than most, but to simplify:

To find your CPU's max, test with Small FFTs.

When finalizing overall OC (CPU + RAM together), test with Blend.

Set Priority setting to at least 8; run the tests for at least 12 hours (the longer you let the test run, the closer you are to ideal stability).

Blend is fine if you're finalizing your OC.

If you just want to know your hottest temps, run Small FFTs.

(Or run S&M v.1.91; be careful, though, because this CAN break your equipment if it's not up to scratch. )

I would run Small FFTs for a minimum of 2hrs as I'm finding the absolute max of the chip.

Those temps are definitely fine. Yes Real Temp is the one to use for E8400's. I got into the mid 60's on Real Temp and everything is fine. I'm running 24/7 stable. Someday you might consider getting an aftermarket cpu cooler. Arctic Pro. Zalman. Anything.
You are FINE. You can crank it up a little higher even.
