Need a gaming laptop

Thread Starter
I have never owned a laptop. I have always built my PC's but now I don't do much PC gaming as I have moved over to console gaming. I would like to sell my sig rig and buy a gaming laptop. I only play WoW and CoD4, and if I could play CSS that would be nice. What CPU do I want? Also what is the minimum video card to play WoW at max graphics?

And finally, some links to some gaming laptops. I would like to spend around $1300 at most. Would like 2gb or 3gb or 4gb ram. HDD 250gb or bigger, DX10, DVD+RW. Widescreen 15.4" or bigger. Vista.

I'm selling my laptop (see sig), it has all those things...except for a DVD burner

EDIT: nevermind, it doesn't have that big a hard drive either.

Hmm, well DVD burner is REALLY important, since they are EXPENSIVE to put in. I would just upgrade the hard drive since the price is lower than my budget. Would you be willing to trade for anything in my PC or I have a sony 5.1 home theater system. Plus I would throw in cash.

Get a Dell brand laptop - highly recommended.

I have the XPS M1710 (discontinued) and it rocks. I can, OMG, play Crysis on it. Around Medium - High on this magnificent 19" screen (or was it 18"?)

Allienwares are good too but extremely pricy. Dell owns Alienware too so you can't take it to "who has better hardware quality" or "support" compare/contrast.

Nah, sound isn't important to me, plus I need to sell it so I can pay off the bills for my current PC.

If you're looking for a decent gaming laptop I highly suggest checking out Clevo/Sager they are a great quality laptop. Head over to http://www.xoticpc.com. They are a reseller and offer great prices as well as excellent customer service. For some good notebook info though check out the forums at http://www.notebookreview.com, the users there are pretty helpful too for the most part.

They only cost a little more than a normal DVD Burner (~$50).

Are you planning to play COD4 on the laptop? That has much heavier requirements than WoW or CSS. For max graphics with WoW, you are probably looking at a 6 series Nvidia/ATI 9xxx or better. These would also have good performance in CSS.

What if I wanted to play CoD4 at medium graphics? I am looking at laptops that have an 8600m gs or a 9500m gs.

In your price range NOTHING comes close to the Gateway FX and can be bought at Bestbuy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1204332501169 Also check the FX owners thread in this section.
