Yes i quite agree, i understand were your parents are coming from though. This game is rated 16+ isn't it?

If you want to get it then go for it. Like i said it is an amazing deal, and most people would say go for it too. But then that would make most of them hypocrites.

But this thread is no place for that discussion.

All in All. If you want to try and get it then do so. But i don't think the answer 'yes' is appropriate on this forum.

I had a friend who wanted the Orange Box too but his mom didn't like the Mature Rating. He simply gave me the $50 and I went out and bought it for him. So now he has the game and is having a fun time, and the good thing is that his mom never found out.

So my point is...instead of influencing your parents, you can go and ask a friend to buy it for you and then hand it over secretly.

My theory on this, and I mean no offense to anyone or to their parents, is that a child who has been raised properly will recognize the difference between the game and real life well before they're 13. Therefore, parents who simply refuse to allow shooters, are either afraid that they did their job poorly, or are avoiding doing their job in the first place. And a parent should always do their best in raising a child, so, assuming they've turned out alright, they should have raised their child properly and with good morals.

To simply refuse shooters for any other reason is simply ignorant, and since the child will clearly not accept that ignorance as fair, will create resentment, rather than learning the bounds of right and wrong, as they would in other situations.

Just my two cents... Well, maybe a bit more than two cents...

OK, i am going to make one post and one post only on this discussion as i don't wish to turn this into an argument. So please don't take my next words as a fuel to start a fire. I am just giving my two cents also

But the bit in bold is also a very ignorant statement from a PC enthusiast point of view. I am not directing this towards (you) just at OCN in general.

Now most people on this site blame parents for the bad media that has been brought upon the gaming industry in current times. OCN as a whole has blamed parenting for the actions a child has committed due to the influence on games. I have witnessed this from several threads spanning 10+ pages

Yet here you all are encouraging an under age kid to purchase a game knowing full well the parents are not consenting. Isn't that just hypocrisy at its best?

Now i do agree that a kid aged 13+ has the intelligence to chose what is reality and what should be left in virtual reality. And apparently you all agree that to, the difference is most of you blame the parents when it goes sour! You say a kid if fit to make his own decisions but are quick to slay the parents for saying he is only a kid! Were is the logic people?

The fact that most people feel strongly towards the media and blame parents for it, yet you are encouraging such acts astounds me!

Now i am going to leave it at that, i am sorry for going off topic

Just a note: my parents are perfectly fine in everything else (and I'm the one who wants to go to boarding school, actually). And, they're consenting... I mean, I am getting Portal for $50, which is what I said I'd do... *whistles and walks away*

I bought it already, by the way. Now let's hope the no blood mod works, just in case I get caught, lol.
