QFT.

Why would you ever go back to XP, especially if you have 8GB of RAM?

I've had SO much trouble with my Vista 64, the Microsoft Rep said it may be my hardware. The only other thing I can think of is a defective motherboard.

You cannot do this.

Your vista OEM key is locked to your new computer's motherboard. If your XP key is also OEM, then it is locked to your old computer's motherboard. A swap would mean breaching the EULA that you agreed to when you pressed F8 to install your OS.

If your XP key is retail, you may use it on your new computer, but then your old one would be out of an OS since your vista key may only be reactivated on its original motherboard (which is in your new computer.)

Either way, if you go through with this, you're going to end up buying more licenses...

Thanks gunner... maybe I'll just call Microsoft tech support and figure out my Vista problems (such as installing sp1!)

Yeah, looks like you've got a great system. Vista should run well on your computer. It would probably be better to get it working and save the money.

What problems are you experiencing?
