Helo^^
I just bought myself a new HQ and new cpu and thought i should try and OC it a litle... HQ is a Asus Rampage Formula X48 and the cpu is C2D E8400.
Started by raising the fsb and dident go far before i had to increase the vcore for it to run stable.
Highest i can get is 4,23Ghz with 1,4Volt vcore, far from stable, best stable i got is 3,75Ghz with 1,336Volt vcore.

I need some help/tips, totaly new to OC'ing and its my first intel CPU in 4 years

U can see my hardware in my signature (i hope)

A few people on the site have fried their E8400's running at voltages close to yours, its best to keep it under 1.3625v

You're feeding your CPU ** WAY TOO MUCH VOLTAGE ***

I wouldn't recommend running it at more than 1.3625v for 24/7 usage because those chips don't do well at that voltage. The 45nm are NOT like the old 65nm chips; Temps don't kill 45nm chips, voltage does. Do a search on the E8400's... you'll find that many people have killed their chips in a matter of weeks when running at or even below that voltage level. (chips were dying even at 1.4v)

When I ran my E8400 at 4.06 GHz with a 8800GT, my 3DMark06 scores were always in the 14,500-14,900 range, so something definitely sems wrong there.

Also, you should be able to get 4.2 GHz steady at much lower voltages...

his voltage is fine for benching or finding the max. he will not kill it if its just for abit. all you people worry to much about it. i run mine at 1.51 alot and it still works fine. but dont run it at that for more then 2 hours

Crank the nb voltage, but keep the nb temps right around 50C-52C for 445fsb
