well, with the current Core 2 cpu's they run at a 1066mhz FSB. At stock CPU speed, with a 266mhz boot strap, to run 1:1 you need 1066mhz ram...

The way motherboards work, with default settings, is that it automatically finds whatever setting will work based on what your ram is set for...

With the Q6600 and it's 9x multiplier, there is a sweet spot with the motherboard settings if you have 1066 ram...

I like faster ram, just for the fact that it will run at a wider range of speeds, just to add to the already wide range of possible settings... You don't really get a huge preformance boost with faster ram, just more options for your over clock settings...
