2nd PCIE Slot Overclocked? 9600gt Freezing

[Ok... This is a long one... Bear with me

I just got this system and built it (all from Newegg), with this:

EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i FTW SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

and two of these is SLI

ECS N9600GT-512MX-P GeForce 9600GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
Equipped with Arctic Cooling System

Sadly, the second PCIE slot doesn't work; not matter if they're used alone or in SLI, if the second slot comes is in use there is freezing after a few minutes of play. Not artifacts, just a black screen for a few seconds then back onto playing (for max 10 seconds after the first one with a single card, 45ish for SLI)

But, I think I have determined the problem. Clockgen tells me that my PCIE bus speed is running at 125mhz.

That would probably be fine, except this card sets its speed based on that (so a 25% increase to the card's speed as well)

Except.. GPU-Z tells me that I'm still running stock speeds, but 64C at idle...

This is actually consistent with what I have read earlier, that driver overclocking utilities can't see the real speed.

So, does this all sound right?
And how do I fix this? I can't find an option to over/underclock the PCIE bus speed in my bios.

Thanks

use rivatuner and open ''hardware monitor'' , you'll find the truth

The 9600's have (or posssibly had) something funky going on with the way they deliver performance. They would somehow automatically overclock your PCI bus based on a multiplier or something to that effect but to have your PCI bus at 125mhz is pretty crazy. OS corrupting crazy almost.

You -can- set your PCI bus to less than 100mhz (the default settings) if you're truly worried.

I never wanted my PCIE bus that high - and I reset the CMOS to try and fix it.

I called tech support, and they had be update my bios, which added the feature to overclock the bus, and thus I was able to return it to normal... Crazy..

The 750i ftw is having problems with the 9600 gt's only for some reason... I read about it in a review on XS forums.

They are working on it i think, h/o i'll link ya.

Here is some review on it.

If any of that helps you, I'll be glad.
