I am confused about that. What do you mean? Will I be needing more than one Y-adapter?

This is what I am planning to do. I don't know if this is what you meant.

I am planning to purchase this and plug it in where my speakers are currently plugged in. Then I will plug in the red and white wires from the adapter's end to my receiver red and white.

Or maybe I can just buy this and plug in the jack to my speaker port and than the red and white to my receiver.

Is that all I would need to do?

I would like to thank everyone that have helped me and provided me information.

I have purchased one Y-adapter piece, not cable, and it worked out fine.

Sounds are so much clearer now. Time to put 6 years old speakers in the box!

Nice one, save having to buy some of the budget desktop speakers when you have a HC sitting near your PC.

Yes. Ideally the best setup would be to hook your computer to the audio reciever; the best connection would be a toslink optical, second best digital coaxial (just 1 RCA plug), and then next option is analouge. You usually need some sort of decent sound card; you can either use a TOSLINK or an SPDIF port out. Those are what you need to look for. If you have detailed questions or want help, PM me.

The receiver doesn't have spdif nor digital coax.

Bummer. Analog then...if you want 5.1 then you need to use the 3/4 cables.

You can use 2 for front/rear, but the center/sub is harder to split up. You have to use a mini to single RCA adaptor, which I'm not even sure if it exists.
