Are you sure the Maximus block isn't 3/8" barbs?

Just use 3/8" tubing on it and change the barbs on your blocks to 3/8".

Performance between different tubing sizes is very very very little, no worth thinking about.

Don't bother using those naff reducers.
Either replace the heatsinks for aftermarket ones and then use 1/2" tubing if thats what you want.

The easiest option is to just use 3/8" hose.

what you can do is put 3/8 tubing over the barbs on the NB block then cut it off flush at the top of the barb then just slide the 1/2" tubing over it for a perfect fit
