The Zalman isn't even close. The OCZ beats the TRUE by nearly 5 degrees.

Thread Starter
i see more people are saying the ocz, so i guess he majority wins. I really don't kno why the zalmans are so expensive, if the 9700 is roughly the same price with very similar performance, I would go for it.

thanks for the help guys.

Guys what about the Tuniq Tower?
Or is that just not even close to these fans and heatsinks?
It's the same price as the OCZ though.

...Heres a pic of my Zalman cnps9700 inside the styrofoam packing for a size comparison. As you can see, its about the same size, just square instead of round... ...the fan included with the Vendetta 2 is 120mm instead of the 92mm fan on the 9700...

Hope this helps with any questions people were having about the Vendetta 2. After 4 hours of testing, I have seen a drop of 10-12 Degrees C on average (from 72C on the 9700 @ 2000RPM to 60C on the Vendetta 2, @ 1400 RPM, ambient room temps of about 25-26C) on 100% load at 3.5 GHz. Also, the core temp fluctuation is much less than on the Zalman. The Zalman posted up at 72, 73, 68, 69 on a 100% load OCCT test. The Vendetta 2 posted up 60, 60, 58, 58, only spiking a few times. I will post the OCCT graphs for my latest 1 hour stress test as soon as its done. All in all, pretty impressive! But the CNPS9700 is really not a decent cooler for the quads when you OC them. I think this cooler surpasses the TRUE in all shapes and forms.

See the thread posts(s) Here & Help Me choose HSF for links to reviews!

If you do go for the V2, or any other Heatpipe Direct Touch (HDT) HSF read through another few BMR pages 33 way TIM shootout & HDT TIM Application techniques which are also discussed Here on OCN
Cheers Mate

& welcome to OCN

PS Make sure when price shopping, you are looking at the OCZ Vendetta 2 (120mm) and not the regular (old) Vendetta (92mm)

Is the Vendetta 2 just bigger or does it have other features?

Just got my Vendetta 2 ordered, from review I see V2 is much better than the original Vendetta 2.

Here's a link of another user used both V2 and True, stating V2 beat true by 2 degrees. http://forum.elitebastards.com/viewt...hp?f=1&t=22718

The difference is TRUE is a pure copper base, while V2 uses heatpipe direct contact. Also V2 has a fan and is cheaper than TRUE. So if the two is indeed on par with performance, I would go with OCZ Vendetta 2 for better price.
