I think everyone knows that 512bit would give the same memory bandwidth as 256bit at half the memory speed. This can be done by simple math !

(512bit/8) x 2.2GHz = 140.8 GB/s

(256bit/8) x 4.4GHz = 140.8 GB/s

So doubling something is the only way to double performance, not making better use of something ? I dont know how the bit controllers work, but one would think they could maybe make it more efficient ? so they would have a 'smaller' bit controller to keep costs down etc.

If you want the latest and greatest then it's always a "bad" time to buy. There is always something better on the horizon.

The article said that the cards have gone gold. That means they are in production, building up initial supply for launch. So unless they find an error in the chip, these things will launch

Graphics upgrade coming this summer I suppose. Hopefully we'll get an idea of what GT200 will be capable of by then as well.

This is the only part of the article that I don't understand. How do TMU's impact performance?

Wars between companies is always good for users

Folding should be good on these cards
