Should a 500w

Thread Starter
Okay,

I know there are sites that give PSU stats, but I'd like more informed opinion.

I have a 500w Rosewill PSU.

This is what it's currently running

MB - 750sli ASUS
Memory - 8gb (4 X 2gb)
DVD RW
Rapter HD
250gb HD
Video - 8800 GTS 512
3 case fans
1 cpu fan

I want to add another 8800 GTS 512 and was wondering if the PSU would hold it?

TIA for the help

You need to know what the total amps on the 12v rail are...but I seriously seriously doubt it.

Post your exact psu, or a link to like newegg/rosewill of it.

You might need to upgrade you PSU. Seen it only has 26A. I don't think it will handle SLI.
A PC Power &C 610 will be good. It has 40A on a single rail. My card takes 201w alone.
The 8800 GTS draws 105 W at max.

I see it says no-SLI support.

I guess I won't be "trying" out this card with my current PSU. That stinks. Was hoping to try it before I spent the money. A buddy has one that he was going to send back. I was going to see if it made that much of a difference.

Yep there is no way I would even think about that. You could pick up a psu around probably $75-$100 that would run them.

Yeah. As said that PSU just wont cope under SLI conditions.

Whats your budget for a new PSU...If you have one ?
Your PSU has 29A on 12v rials so barely meets the GTS SLI requirement. Take a look at Corsair vx or tx series. Good price and quality PSU.

I didn't have a budget for a PSU, since I was spending money on the 2nd video card. I will have to look into and see if I can scrape out an additional $100-$150.

Thanks everyone for the help
