1600 x 8 = 3.6ghz?

Thread Starter
so if i set the multiplier at 8x
and set fsb(qdr) at 1600 my system boots up flawlessly and under system it says my cpu is at 3.6, but cpuz says 3.2---- i have the halt CIE disabled and the other stuff necessary to give me a correct cpuz reading, but cpuz reads 3.2 still.

so is my system wrong by claiming this? in bios it reads 3.2 also, but under vista it says 3.6. im confused.

Its probably 3.2. Vista tends to read wrong frequencies.

because you changed the multi to 8 cpuz is giving the correct speed but vista isnt seeing the change in multi and is reporting 400x9=3.6GHz

1600x8=12800 =P. I'm not sure why it does it ethier, but when I had my quad at 3.2 (400 x 8) cpuz would say 3.2, but 3dmark06 ect would say 3.6. I wouldn't worry about it =P
Oh, hai.

it is only 3.2 if you set the multi to 9 then you will have 3.6.

MS Operating system is using the stock multiplier x fsb to determine the speed. In this case, the stock multiplier is 9 and fsb is 400 =3.6. CpuZ reads the bit from MSR to obtain the real time multiplier, which is 8 so 400x8=3.2G

1600/4 = 400 x 8 = 3200
