Please recommend a mobo diagnostic..

Ever since I overheated and replaced my q6600, my evga 780i is flaky. Tested RAM, AOK, and reinstalled vista 64, also seems good.

In fact, on my 3.6 OC I'm getting awesome temps, and pass 3 hours of Prime95. When I left it folding last night though, I entered the "thermal shutdown" intermittent beeping from hell. Then it couldn't find bootmgr for some reason. I left it off overnight, and now it found bootmgr fine...

Damn gremlins! I'm RMAing the board, but I'd still like to confirm the bug; it's driving me crazy.

Recommend a MOBO diagnostic suite? I KNOW it's not CPU, RAM, BIOS, or various drivers, all of that seems just great and bench-worthy...

Bump.

Got the error again. I had an IRQL BSOD last night after running FAH for 8 hours and watching movies, surfing, etc. without a hiccup. I decided to try testing the memory before working on a driver conflict. It tested great overnight, no errors in a 10 hour walltime. My memory is fine, I'm willing to bank.

It wouldn't reboot after memtest though, got stuck on A0 post code (failed to initialize mouse). I tweaked the lane voltages, and that rebooted. Then however, same issue: cannot find BOOTMGR.

This leads me to believe it's a hardware thing rather than drivers, since the error is right here in BIOS. I've tried removing my SATA DVD to no avail, though I have never had a problem with the lite-on drive int he first place.

I've checked the obvious, the connections and BIOS configuration is okay. Nada. I reset to default optimimum values, reset the boot priority, nada.

Last time leaving the system off overnight fixed this, so I suspect something thermal, especially since my recent overheat on the CPU. I'm glad I have an RMA board coming. Still though, I wish I could isolate this...

My laptop feels like a FEMA trailer right now. I want my house back!
