Different voltages in vista 64 vs xp

Thread Starter
I have xp 32bit on one of my hard drives and 64bit vista on the other.

What I noticed is that there is a big discrepency with voltages.

My vcore for example is set at 1.375 in bios. xp reads 1.41 in Speedfan and 1.408 in cpu-z and vista reads 1.42-1.44 on core 1 and 1.52 on core 2.

The idle temps are about 10c higher in vista so I don't think it's a misreading.

Is this normal?

I'm getting 10 degrees less in Vista so something is wonky between what XP reports and what Vista reports. Out of curiosity are you running Speedfan and CPU-Z from another hard drive like I am? For example I'm running CPU-Z in Vista but the application is on the other hard drive installed in XP.

It didn't really matter which hard drive i ran it from.

But I seem to have fixed it. I unistalled and removed an old sounblaster audigy and switched back to onboard sound and temps an voltages are now the same in xp and vista. Weird.

Soundblaster drivers have always given me problems in the past, I dunno why I even messed with putting that old card in there.
