No one said anything towards you inappropriate or rude in any way.

Common misconception, but if it makes you feel better... eh...

Why, yes I do!

I guess I DO need to specify sarcasm every time I use it.

That's what the vista folks tell me. And yes, I understand that they would obviously use parts of XP in vista.

Exactly.

Couldn't resist, man; sorry. But really, once the topic "security" comes up, the security parrots swoop down and squawk:

"Anything is hackable, anything is hackable *squawk* "
"Anything is hackable, anything is hackable *squawk* "

Licht doesn't flame; you don't have to worry about him.

Really, isn't there always something that can be exploited?

Well, teh thing is, in the pwn2own iirc they said the same JAVA code could have hacked the Linux as well, and the MAC but you couldn't use the same way more than once so they started easiest with the mac in what 1 day, teh Vista in I think it was 2 1/2 and linux didn't get hacked due to too long of a code needed so it wasn't worth the time.

I could be remembering the article differently and I wasn't there so not sure, I guess I could dig but it seems to be about right in my head.

Ok, now that I have that out of me.

Doesn't surprise me, simple look over through apparently a good bit of the time to detect. Interesting how it also says Server 2003 and 2008, not to forget XP SP2 but yet the only thing that comes in question is Vista.

Will nobody give Microsoft a bit of credit here? The fact that they discovered their own flaw and publicized how it can be avoided is a feather in their cap as far as I'm concerned. Sure Vista may have a ton of security issues, but as long as Microsoft finds them before the evil-doers exploit them, what's the problem?

Not so true, the Ultra is a G80 core revision and some manufacturers such as MSI made it even dual core.
