hi all,

i come up with an upgrade for my computer trying to keep it to a minimum and replace anything that could bottle neck here goes, i know nothing about intels so if i messed up bear with me and pelase correct me.....

Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L iP31 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX

OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC with LIFETIME WARRANTY

OCZ StealthXtream 500W PSU - 1x PCI-E 6/8pin, 2x SATA 12cm Fan

Intel Pentium Dual Core E2200 Socket 775 2.2GHz 800FSB Retail Boxed Processor

ive got the PSU to replace the bad one i got atm it was just a cheap one at the time to get a pc built also the cpu will eventually get upgraded, i already ahve a sata 2 hard drive dvd rw etc and also

OCZ Vindicator Cpu Cooler

that already installed and i stumbled across the 775 attacment the other day,

you reakon that would be ok for overclocking and getting the maximum? im hoping to get it to 2.8ghz what you all reakon?

Get that instead, it has the P35 chipset which is a beast at OCing right now.

You're getting married and can't scrape £150 together? You might want to re-think your lifestyle.

All that aside, I'd just keep your current setup. An Opteron 170 at 3.0GHz is still a very respectable chip.

I didn't get married unless I was financially stable. And I wouldn't marry a woman that wanted to dump all my money into one party.

we only jsut got engaged WAH!

anyway ive made a few additions, ive got a case and AS5

now im stuck between cases:

this full tower case for 19.99

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134804#

or this mid tower case
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/121076

im think the full tower for more room etc, as i want a duad core n possible water cooling setup eventually, but i like the look of the white tower case:

also, i no longer have the opty i have a 3500 venice @ 2.77ghz on a divider.

if i dont get a new case i could get a better cpu or mobo, but i reakon that the mobo will get me by for a while yet tbh, aslong as i get a half decent overclock i really dont mind, the ram has had reports of reaching 1000mhz @ 4-4-4-15 2.1volts

reakon ill see any performance jump from ym 3500+

never had intel before.....the darkside

If I were you, I would get an e2180 instead of that e2200, the 10x multi is much better. Then put the money saved towards a p35 board.
I'm lookin now. You really don't want that p31, it will not overclock well.

This p35 here is a good'un - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/141600

e2180- http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132064

EDIT: You may want to consider this bundle deal PSU and case - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135101

EDIT2: This RAM is also better than the OCZ IMHO - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/111439

EDIT3: Also consider OEM processors if you have a cpu cooler already

Ok, if you are on a very, very tight budget, I'd suggest the following:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...EdpNo=3594545: This is the downmarket "Celeron" Core 2 processor. Same assembly line as the E2200, but $40.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...527&CatId=3355
ABIT IP35V board. My favorite, the IP35-E, is no longer on newegg. Boo! $90.

For a power supply, just look into OEM supplies by Seasonic and pick the cheapest that fits your power budget (for a Celeron/Pentium system with a single GPU we're talking 400-450W maximum, 380 is fine if the manufacturer is respectable (as seasonic is)).

For memory just get the cheapest DDR2 800 you can. The Celeron/pentium chips don't need a high enough FSB even overclocked to justify expensive memory.
