Thread Starter
Ok so i just reformatted my HDD and reinstalled CoD4... now before i did this i made a backup of my WHOLE CoD4 folders to ensure i wouldnt lose any of my stats and unlocks.. so i past these files in the new cod4 folder and when i go to play online my profile is there.. but my unlocks and rank are gone

how do i retrieve this? i REALLY dont want to play it all again as i had a whole days worth of game time and was at lvl 44

this is the directory which i copied and replaced..

The directory is in... C:\\Users\\(user name)\\appdata\\local\\virtualstore\\programfiles\ \activision\\callofduty4:modernwarfare\\players\\p rofiles

Replace it there with the profiles folder. Also in order to see this, when you first open up into the C drive, press "alt" then a bar will come up at the top. Goto "tools" then "folder options" from there check it so it "shows hidden folders" hope this helps.

For future reference.... Call of Duty 4 Backup 0.9.2. This program automatically backs up your COD4 files for recall.

EDIT: And this post from TaiDinh may be helpful:

For people not playing on Steam, their status would be located here.

C:ActivisionCall of Duty 4 - Modern Warfareplayersprofiles*Your Profile Name Here*

There, you'll see two files

-mpdata: This is all your online status from kill, death, and guns records.
-config_mp.cfg: This is your graphical settings and such.

Just save those two files and then drag them in after a reformat.

NOTE: Your mpdata must be used with the exact same serial key.

Since you're a steam user, can you confirm if your file is also at this location?

By automatic does that mean it is as good as the Firefox bookmark thing. the moment it sees that the save is gone it uts in some default setting and totaly scraps the whole thing.

To tell you the truth... I'm not really sure. I've never actually used it. I just saw it recommended previously by other OCN'ers here in the past. Maybe there is a readme file in the download. My apologies, sorry I don't know more about it.
