Q6600 or Q6700? - Page 6

I got my Q6700 so I thought I would check it out even though none of my WCing gear is ready to be set up.

So I set the board up outside the box, installed the ram, CPU (with stock HS) and video card. I booted it up, flashed the bios and checked the Hardware monitor. The CPU boots at 1.176v vcore. So I set it to 1.25 in bios, which Hardware monitor shows as 1.232v vcore, and have it booting at 350 FSB x 10 multi.

So it is booting at 3.5GHz with 1.232v vcore. Now I know this is by no means verifieable yet since I dont have an OS to run Prime95, but it is pretty exciting!

I really liked my E6700 over my E6600, lower Vcore and better clocks. It was 3.75GHz (375x10) 24/7 at 1.4vcore.
I'd totally go for the Q6700 over the Q6600, better clocks and you don't have the same processor as everyone else.

The Q6700 will clock well but it takes voltage to do it. And it is highly unlikely that you will be able to out preform a Q6600 with a Q6700 on air. I have hit 4.060GHz http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=341105 but not stable and it took 1.8v temps were still manageable but a bit scary it was hitting 75c running prime. The highest semi stable clock I have achieved with mine is 4.030GHz @1.74v 3 hrs prime stable. Scored 22,507 3DMark06 points. I run mine 24/7 3.8GHz 10 X 380 1.58v 10hrs prime stable 30c idle 65c prime stress load. If you are going to stay with air cooling go with the Q6600 if you plan on going with liquid I would go with the Q6700. And by the way I own both my Q6600 runs at 3.6GHz on air and I have run it on liquid. I have found that at higher GHZ the Q6700 is better and I can get it stable at higher GHz than the Q6600
