PS3 Question on Firmware

Thread Starter
I was just wondering if they had any custom FW available for the PS3, I'm not really thinking about modding it. I'm really just wanting something to read up on to see how homebrew is doing on it.

I havent heard of any custom firmwares for the PS3 yet either. I imagine there will be one day though. Given the success of the PSP CFW, it's only a matter of time before someone cracks the PS3.

Although, the chance of bricking something I paid $600 for is just a little too risky for me personally.

You really don't need custom firmware when you can install linux.

^ True, it would just be more convenient I guess. Perhaps that's why Sony included the option to install Linux? So hacking their firmware wouldnt be so appealing...?

Yeah that would make sense. Though I hear that the PSP custom firmware dev team is working on jailbreaking the PS3.
