Help for a build

Thread Starter
I'm currently making a build that goes under 1000USD.
I've already spent 300 on the case and processor.
So now I basically need help on deciding the GPU and Mobo.
And suggestions?
I'll probably spend around 50~100 on RAM, and ~100 on HD.

8800GT's are dropping in price as are the GTS's. Check the online deal's section for a good deal on an open box MSI GTS (g92 of course). p5k se is a good board from asus for a good price. Basically my system is less than 1000 and still preforms excellent.

Well..besides the X-fi and the 2 maxtor drives.

The 780i doesn't seem really appealing seeing as its just basically a bunch of old cards thrown together and upgraded...
790i is too expensive
600 series doesn't support the 45nm I have
That leaves me with the 750i which I don't know much about or some non nForce mobo...

For a rig with a single 8800GTS? More than plenty, esp. given the fact that this given PSU delivers 41A on a single 12V rail.

I agree with everything Chozart recommended.

But I'd go with the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L $89.99 instead of the DFI Bloodiron.

It overclocks very well with the 1333FSB. I use it myself with my E8400.

Edit. I had the wrong link. It should be OK now

My main reason for the Bloodiron is the fact that it supports RAID (ICH9R southbridge), just in case.. and it's just an awesome board

Obviously, the Gigabyte is nice also. Good overclocker, but no RAID capabilities.

I didn't think he wanted RAID. I was just trying to save him a few bucks

Too close to Microsoft? Me too. lol
