Which Router for Wireless MS adapter? - Page 2

I dont think anyone's internet connection will completely fill up the 54Mbps bandwidth allowable according to wireless G standards. mine caps out at 7-8Mbps. So, as long as you arent moving a lot of data in your home network between your pcs and your xbox, you should be fine with any router running wireless G.

that is unless you have microwave ovens blasting all around you while you game

I got my xbox wireless adapter off ebay for $40 after shipping, works great, but i had to wait a week. thats just one option.

Getting that bridge is still cheaper than buying the adapter at retail prices though

I was paying Halo 3 online last night...perfectly fine over standard wireless G, no lag or stuttering of any kind. It's definitely enough bandwidth because, as was pointed out earlier, your broadband connection to the internet is only going to be a fraction of that anyway. Even if you're getting 8MB, or whatever, that's only your download speed. You're likely getting a much lower upload speed, very likely under 1Mbps. The game devs know this, this scenario is pervasive; and they have to design their games knowing this fact.

Unfortunastely, bridges are expensive. At the time I bought mine, it was something like $99, basically the same price as the router. My guess is that they don't sell very many of these compared to routers, so the lack of an economy of scale for the components drives the price up. Just my guess, though.

$59 is still cheaper than the real MS wireless adaptor, though. I wouldn't consider that a bad price at all.
