Web Hosting

Thread Starter
Hey, I don't know where to put this but I'm just wondering if anyone knows a good, cheap web host.

See I'm helping out my Girlfriends Fathers Business and I just finished designing there Bags and Now they want a website... I can easily make a website but I've never actually published one.. I have used Geocities way back when but this is for a serious business. Any suggestions?

I like hostsnake.com. It is free. They give you a subdomain name. Great storage and transfers. Check them out. Oh and they give you tech support even for free acounts. They have pay accounts and everything also that give better support for files and business.

Asmallorange is definitely the best out of the ones I've used, which is probably about 10 in the past few years. I have finally settled with asmallorange. You can't beat their uptime and support for the price.

Why are people suggesting free sites? If you want even a hair of credibility with a professional website your going to have to pay for a real service.

I've used both Godaddy and 1&1's basic hosting plans and they're perfectly fine and cheap. I would go with one of the massive web hosting companies, yeah you probably won't get the best support, but they won't sell you what they can't deliver and you pretty much guaranteed they won't disapeer overnight.

thats not true, real service is basically uptime, thats what it comes down to, i recommended him atspace since that is like the freewebs of hosting, except it actually has ftp, atspace has been here for a while

btw most of the massive webhosting companies oversell like crazy, the space and bandwidth you get is all virtual, going even 20% near their 500 gig bandwidth for 5 dollars a month is gonna be a nice suspension for you, atspace was one of the first things i tried like 5 years ago , and its still working, its perfect for a small html site
godaddy is a fine example of overselling at its finest

Also, I've found lifelesspeople.com to be a great free host. The only requirement is that you make a certain amount of posts on their forums each month. But they have cPanel and great uptime.
