Odds of good E8400 batch code

Thread Starter
I sent back my E8400 for a replacement because of how crappy it was OCing. I did wait a couple of weeks for some newer batches to come out, and I'm hoping this gamble will pay off. I have an E4500 as a backup to hold me over, and the E4500 is performing better than my E6300 did

What are the odds of getting an E8400 from a good OC batch? It's such a mixed bag that it may be totally uncertain, but maybe there is a pattern I haven't found yet.

The E8400 I had couldn't hit 4 GHz under 1.41v, and even at 3.8 GHz it had to be at 1.37 and would throw errors in Prime95. 3.6 GHz was the most stable, which I find irritating. So many E8400 users are able to be at 4 GHz stable, and at a safe voltage too.

I agree ... I got mine a couple weeks ago, it was packed 03/27/08 and I can get to 4ghz, but it requires bios vcore of 1.38125. That value is much lower in windows (1.36 under load) but I didn't like setting it past the 1.3625 amount. GOod luck

My batch number was like Q808A614. Yeah that looks right. Well, document the fact that the Q808, at least the 614, is a BAD overclocker.
