Overclocking E6750 with EVGA 650i Ultra

Thread Starter
Hey,

Im new to the whole overclocking thing but i do understand on how to do it now.

When im in BIOS, and i cannot find to increase my Bus Speed, i got no clue but i cannot find it at all.

I got a EVGA 650i Ultra motherboard btw.

Its really odd, i literally clicked everything i seen and didnt come across any numbers that were 333.

Can anyone help me? I want to overclock my E6750 to 3.0Ghz btw, and i idle around 35C.

I got a program called nTune that i can increase my Bus Speed, not sure if thats safe because i heard its best to do overclocking through BIOS.

Thanks

Im still trying to figure out how to overclock. I am a little bit confused with the FSB. When im in BIOS, theres the 1333 FSB. I see peoples FSB is set 400 and stuff. How do i get the three digit number type of thing.

I got a EVGA 650i Ultra.

Your BIOS says 1333 MHz because that's the quad-pumped speed. The real FSB speed is 1333 / 4 = 333.25Mhz. If you wanted to run your FSB at 400, simply multiply that by 4 to get 1600 Mhz. That's what I set my E6750 to get an overclock of 3.2 Ghz, which is 400 Mhz multiplied by the 8x multiplier.

What else do i have to screw around with?

I set my Memory Divider to 1:1, and set my FSB to 1500 which is 3.0Ghz, what else do i have to screw around with once i do that?

Thanks.

Not too much more, I don't think. The E6750 should do 3Ghz without a voltage bump. Boot it and run some stability tests.

Make sure the voltage is set to 1.35v. Some of these motherboards have auto settings that usually set them at something weird; I know mine did so I had to manually fiddle with them, not sure about the one you have.

Ok, have you tried using auto for the ram and just go to 1600fsb, should take it rather easily.

Only setting to change is fsb for right now. Auto for the ram will more than likely give it laxed timmings and run it 1:1 so it will be 800MHz or whatever would be suitable for your ram speed(what is it btw?).

Yeah my RAM is 800Mhz. So instead of putting it to 1:1, just set it to Auto?

And what voltage should i set to 1.35v?

Alright, i put my FSB to 1600, put my RAM to Auto instead of 1:1, saved the changes, started up my PC, went to CPU-Z and it still says 1333Mhz..

Do i have to change the voltage to make it work or something? And the 1.35v voltage, i am not sure which voltage that is..

Is there like some option i should disable in my BIOS or something?

Thanks.

The 1.35v voltage should be the CPU Core voltage, seen here

Can you post a screenshot of your CPU-Z readings?
