Problem with nvidia driver and dual monitors (resolution)

Thread Starter
Ok I used to use my old pentium 4 and my ati 9800pro to run dual monitors. One monitor being an old CRT with a 1600x1200 max resolution, and the other my dell 22inch LCD with a resolution of 1680x1050.

Anyway back in the day the redeon 9800 would recognize each monitor, so I could set the dell up as the desk top (not streched all the way acorss, the dell would have all the taskbar icons things and everything) and then the CRT was just like screen real estate. When I would put a window on one screen and hit maximze it would just fill whichever screen it was on. Now with my Nvidia card I only have the horizontal strech, so maximizing a window splits it across the whole space. and now my resolution shows as 1280x1024. I want it to run each monitor like it used to, each one at thier max resolution.

Sorry if this makes no sense or anything, and sorry if this isn't the right place to post this question, but thanks for ANY help.

What are you using to set up your preferences for the two monitors? The settings built into windows lets you set up the res on each screen individually and you are able to use it like you used to. If you are using any 3rd party app to do this, that may be your problem.

Just right click on your desktop, go to preferences, and then settings, and click extend my desktop to this monitor (with the second monitor selected that is) and go from there. Shouldn't be an issue, but keep us updated.

You may need to restart, then go into the nvidia control panel. Under setup multiple displays, you should be able to pick configured independently and set you resolutions that way. You may need to be in advanced mode to see these options, I'm not sure

Thanks, I know that the original windows preferences work, but the options weren't even there. I will restart, since I haven't yet and see what happens.
