just my my new system in, same as my sig.. okay, i have a 40gb maxtor HD that my current computer is running off, i BOUGHT a new 250gb SATA hd but i want to be able to not have to buy another OS. Will using my 40gb IDE hd as primary on my new rig bottleneck my new computer?

Wait, you're using a 40gb as primary and 250gb as backup?
Are you even going to have enough room for all the programs/software you need?
And I honestly have no idea for the bottlenecking problem, you could just try it and run some tests to see if it does though.

in my old computer i had a 40gig, i just bought a new 250gig, however, my OS is still on my 40 gig, how do i solve this issue?

Always best to reformat when you switch major parts. And that ide drive is way slower then that aaks.

take your XP cd and install the os on the 250.....your windows key gets registered to you motherboard/CPU hardware profile......if everyone had to buy a new os everytime their harddrive failed, everyone at microsoft would've been shot.........

You already know that you'll need to buy a new windows lisence as you've swapped motherboards.
