Not comparing something so widely done and proven is hiding something.
I highly doubt this guy is some sort of conspirator in Vendetta's success trying to hide flaws in the heatsink. He's not a OCZ spokesperson, hes just giving his opinion. Don't make this out to more than it is.

Anyway, I think it's likely that if one performs better than the other stock (assuming the same fan), then they will produce similar results modded. Unless some mods are not available for one or the other.

What you fail to realize is that heatsinks have different designs, similar to the way radiators have different Fins Per Inch (FPI) counts. As such, some heatsinks/radiators work better than others in different scenarios with different fans. The Vendetta2 has a lower FPI (wider fin spacing) than the Ultra 120 Extreme, so it doesn't need a high powered fan to get its best results, and sees diminishing returns at a lower CFM rating than the Ultra 120 Extreme. Plug a high powered fan (after all, it is about performance) on both heatsinks (and lap the Ultra 120 Extreme; again, performance!) and watch the Ultra 120 Extreme leap ahead. And no, you won't be able to lap the Vendetta 2 very effectively, or gain much, as the heatpipes are already making as much contact as they can, and their thin walls would probably not stand up too well against a lap job.

You can lap it if yours is concave, if it's convex you're screwed. The metal is indeed thin, but not nearly as thin as some of you make it out to be. You can still sand it down a little bit, not as much as other coolers, obviously. Granted, it won't benefit as much from lapping as the mountainous TRUE, but bear in mind that it's half the price and not nearly as noisy as the TRUE, nor does it require as much effort to set up.

All things optimal for both units, will the TRUE beat it? Maybe by a degree or two. But is that worth double the cost, time spent lapping, and all the extra noise? I don't think so. If you do, more power to ya.

That said, I believe its the best air cooler on the market atm.

I'm going to order one this week just to do a side by side with my TRUE.

Should be fun.

I'm going to lap the Vendetta (since my TRUE is lapped) and I'm also going to test both coolers with a high pressure bolt through mount.

I'll post a separate thread once I get the cooler in hand and do the tests.

REP +1 Can't wait to see your results. I'm sure lots and lots of people will be interested in seeing your results.
