Added a poll for convenience, what differences in framerate should I expect? Mainly looking for cards with dual-slot coolers. Prices listed is the final cost of the step-up. I'm looking for a good card that will last, not a budget card. The 9600GT isn't really on my mind, it much slower then the rest and only has a single slot cooler.

I would still go for an 8800GTS 512MB. You can get one for less than $200 now. They are almost as good as a 9800GTX and a hundred dollars cheaper.

8800GTS G92 or 8800GT.

8600GTS -> GT or GTS G92 = big improvement.

Instead of step up sell your 8600GTS and buy a 8800GTS G92 for $200 after MIR like losttsol said.

Uh, yeah, no poll. No idea what cards you're looking in to.

8800GT is always a solid choice though, but your 24" monitor may be troublesome...which is why I say find a GTX used for dirt cheap!

Remember that the prices listed is what I will be paying for AFTER the step-up, unless the 8800gts is faster, there is no reason in paying the extra 10$.

If you can get a 9800GTX for $200 then I'd definitely go with that. Otherwise, the 8800GTS (G92).

How do they compare in terms of power? I heard they are nearly the same.

If 9600Gt only will cost u 40$ then i dont see you getting 8800GT or the 8800GTs which are not that better considering the price.

Another thing, they allow me to step up to 2 different 9800GTX's.

One is a (512-P3-E871-AR), and the other is (512-P3-E871-AR). According to EVGA they both cost 350$ new.

I'm currently leaning towards ether the 8800GT, and the 9800GTX. If the 9800 only increases framerates by only 5 or something the I'm going with the GT.
