HD3870X2 PSU Reccomendation.

Hey there guys. I know exactly what to look for in a PSU but I have been out of the game for a little while with the Next gen cards.

I do believe this card requires an 8 PIN connector does it not ?

I can find loads of SLI certified ones with 6Pin connectors but I would like to get a well branded and VERY reliable PSU that has a native 8pin for this ATI card.

Any reccomendations ?

Thanks.

3870X2. Good one. Mate. It needs one 6-pin and one 8-pin connectors. How about Corsair 750tx for non-modular and Silverstone DA750 for modular?
the antec tpq 850 has a dedicated braid (not modular, not removable) that has 2 8 pin pci-e gpu lines, and an 8 pin 12v atx line for the mobo - separate and aside form the modular lines which can support all your devices and 2 pci-e 6 pin. Its a very nice psu. I used it in my current system build, but just pushed it over to my older rig when that psu died the other day. In here I just installed a Silverstone DA850 which is 100% modular (no non-removable lines). Had I been using the pci-e 8's I would have kept the antec in here, and got something else for the old rig, but I am obsessed with wire-hiding so I opted to switch them since the antec 8's are not removable and I wasnt using them, and they were pissing me off

Nice one guys. I was thinking about the Silverstone but I forgot about that particular model which is a nice PSU. Im going to look it up now.

As for Antec....I have had a bad experience with a couple of their PSU's and i have lost trust with them TBH.

i hear the pcp&c 750 silencer is a good PSU which meets all of the requirements.

My psu would run a 3870x2 very well, it has 2 6pins and an 8 pin, its a silverstone OP650, it has 54 amps on a single 12 v rail so it should be more then enough for a 3870 x2 rig

My rigs powersupply is always within 0.01v on it's lines (tested with multi-meter).
Has 2x 8-pin (well 3x 8-pin really, but you need one for you mobo's 8-pin connector) & 2x 6-pin dedicated lines. Most of the "smaller" models have these as well.

Yeah but 1000 watts is sorta overkill for a single 3870 x2 lol
