These Q6600s are great chips though, and not very fragile either
Sorry forgot to put that in. Its a G0

Looks like best prime95(v25) stable is 3.3 @ 1.47-1.42 with droop. Anything over that takes over 1.5v or more. Anyone got any other suggestions before I RMA this thing?

Meh, it seems the G0 from Frys are garbage. I just got mine the other day and I cant stable out at 3.0GHZ with 1.45 or even 1.55 vcore. Less than a minute into Prime95 I error.

Yep 1.325 I think.

I hear the B3 gets better overclocks than the G0 from Frys. I dunno what to do now. Return the CPU or RMA the board. My computer wont start with default q6600 settings. I have to pop the battery out, put it back in, and then; only then will it let me into bios and thats it. I than raise the FSB a little to jump start it. This is blasphemy, this is madness!!!!

Well I just did a vDroop mod on my board today, and apparently I only need 1.36 or so to get to 3.7 ghz. Do a vDroop, then try lower voltages.

Well you're killing my excitement over my build that should be put together by the end of next week, should I just return my Q6600 G0 i got from Frys and order another one off the egg? I don't want crappy overclocking, though i'd probably be happy with 3.3, i'd LIKE to go to 3.6. Dilemmas are the suck, and if this Frys chip sucks i'm never buying from them again.

You have a Q6600 G0 from Frys as well? I was thinking on doing te vdroop penicl mod on mine as well and see what happens. I saw the picture for the formula but seems no one confirmed it works on the extreme. Also I thought the Loadline Calibration was to prevent vdroop? I think my bios is 1.45 and everest reads 1.43 or 1.44 I think.

Sorry It could be me, I dunno. I am gonna try 8*400 and see if I can stable out. But if I cant get this stable even at 2.5ghz than I am gonna call and send it back and get Q9450.

Maybe its the fact that am using the stock cooler but my temps aren't that high. I know it cant be my board or ram because my E2160 was fine. My bios supports my quad. But I still find it funky that I cant be on default with my Q6600 in bios to even start my computer.

Would reinstalling windows help out maybe?

Maybe reinstall Vista?
