Noob: 2180 Help Prime95 Stable

Thread Starter
Im at 3Ghz now! Yehey! Wohoo!! My First OC! Need Help in making this 4-6hrs Prime Stable.

Current Settings:

vCore & DDRV/NBV/FSBV - Stock /[Normal] in bios
vCore at 1.232 after vDroop on CPU-Z
FSB 333 x 9 (I only wanted to reach 3Ghz..Thanks Witchfire!!! )
Mem at 800MHZ / 2.40 (5:6) Divider/ 6-6-6-18 Timings at [Auto] timings setting.

Using CPU-Z 1.44 / CoreTemp 0.97 / Everest Ulitimate 2008 / Prime95 v25.6

At FSB 334 it would not post. If set again It would post but would automatically change the mem timings to 6-7-7-19. So Im sticking with 333 x 9 at 6-6-6-18 Mem Timings.

Run prime95 for 20 minutes then I encountered the first Prime95 error of my life.

Ambient: 30-35C Estimate (Hot Summer in the Asia Pacific - No Shirt & Sweating while OCing )
Ocing at the hottest time of the year would let me know my max temps.

Core Temps at: Idle - 40C Load - 70C (both Read the same by CoreTemp and Everest)
Motherboard Temps - 46C Max
Motherboard Alarm of 70C goes off at 68C Core Temp. I reset it at 80C

My goal is to reach 3Ghz at Stock voltages at 4-6hrs Prime Stable. Ive seen a lot of people achieve this. According to Kingstons site, my Value Ram is spec to operate at 1.8V (+/- 0.1V). Is my memory holding me back or the vCore/NBV/FSBV? Do I need to +.01V? It reads 1.87V in Everest.AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE I WANT TO REMAIN AT STOCK!! Its to hot in my country..

Any help woluld be greatly appreciated..Thanks to all that would help..

well i can see one problem already. you need to increase your vcore to at least your VID (which for my e2180 is 1.3125v) If that doesn't help, then you need to increase your vcore higher to get your desired OC. Also, make sure "Load Line Calibration" is set to ENABLE and that should help w/ vdroop. (my OC can get to 3.0GHz 300*10 stable @ 1.3125v or 333*9 stock volts of 1.3125v. But each chip is different) Also, for you, you might try to get a HSF better than the stock intel one, as 3.0GHz in a cooler climate is pushing the limits, and you're in a much warmer region. I'd suggest the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

Will try that when I get home..Ill just set the vCore from [Normal] to 1.3125? Im still scared to touch voltages. And will increasing to that vCore would increase my temps by how much?

Im sticking with the stock fan. 3rd Party HSF is still expensive and uncommon in my country. A CoolerMaster Hyper-TX2 costs as much as a DVDRW Drive for 40$.

Its ok to torture this chip coz Im planning to use it for only 2yrs. Im gonna OC with this mobo for 2yrs then upgrade to the Q9000 series when it becomes $60 after 2yrs and run at stock for another 2yrs.

BTW, what are your temps there in the US?

well messing w/ vcore effects temps different;y for different people. And in CoreTemp, it will tell you what your VID is. (VID=Stock reference voltage)

And when you go to OC, turn off all Execute Disable, Thermal Throttling, Speedstep, etc.
Here's my stable OC (your mileage may vary)

And ambient stay ~60F-70F.

I've heard a few people having problems trying to get their e2180 stable past 2.95GHz. I just happen to be lucky

vCore now set at 1.3125 at Bios
but it displays as 1.264 at Idle in CPU-Z / 1.232 Load in CPU-Z

IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY VOLTS? OR IS THIS NORMAL? OR DO I HAVE TO UPGRADE TO A BETTER BIOS TO ELIMINATE VDROOP?

Run Prime 95 for 2 hrs and 30 mins

Core Temps: Idle - 40C Load - 72C (becomes 74C upon reaching 2hrs and 30mins.. then i decided to stop prime95 )

ARE MY TEMPS NORMAL AT 30-35C AMBIENT ON STOCK COOLER?

you need to disable the power saving features and throttling features in the BIOS. (that's why there is a large vdroop) Those will help stabilize your OC. they might be under the "Advanced BIOS Features" catagory
