RivaTuner question

Thread Starter
Hi all.

Before I take the plunge, I just need to know if I am understanding a few things.

1. I am running 2 9600GT in SLI mode...if I make changes in RivaTuner, both will be adjusted, right?

2. A GPU overclock is not a 24/7 setting, is it? From what I am gathering from the forums, I would save my settings in a profile of some sort and load them when I needed them (like playing Crysis, for instance)?

3. If I completely screw up the overclock, the settings will reset if I reboot?

Thanks in advance. Forgive me if these are bonehead questions, but this is my first foray into overclocking my whole system (did CPU already), and I really don't want to have to explain why my apartment burned down to my landlord.

1: Yes it will oc both together. 2: I leave my overclock intact 24/7. 3: Possible driver corruption, may need to reinstall display drivers.

i have the same cards as you (but not in sli ) try overclocking till around 750 and do some tests, see where temp is at,if its still cool go up by 5 mhz with artifact scanner running in the backround till u cant go any higher, the go down by 10mhz.and i have overclocked this video card to 1170 by accident,no damage done to video card or pc just had to restart.

EDITh ya, the mem limit is at 1100.

Overclocks are only temporary, until you reboot basically. You however can make saved "settings" that will load the OC'd speeds up on boot up, basically fixing the OC.

You can reset the OC in the program.

Youre best to stop the artifact scanner, then increase clocks, and then restart the scanner.

LOL...okay. I think I did something wrong. The stock settings on this card (I got the OC version...should have asked if that makes a difference) are 675/1700/900. I set the core to 700, and the shader to 1750 (they were linked). Kept the memory the same.

Started running ATI tools...what exactly am I looking for on this fuzzy block? Didn't report any errors, but, then again, it didn't have time to.

Suddenly, my screen went translucent white, and the system slowly started to lock up. Ended up having to reset. The temp was holding at 66 when it went down.

Insights?
