10,000K Raptor worth it? - Page 2

I have 2 of them in RAID 0 and they fly but bowman is totally right, they are the loudest HDDs iv ever heard. I don’t regret getting them though, the performance is awesome. As for the Samsung Spinpoint F1 the seek time is way too slow for me(8.9ms). They don’t even come close even with a 32mb buffer.

I have the 150gb. Its not as loud as I thought it would be when I bought it. My back up 80gb samsung drive runs alot hotter than my Raptor.

People that don't have Raptors say it's not worth the money. People with them say it is. I say Raptors are faster for loading your OS and games and things, but not mind-boggling fast.

There's a 10,000,000 Raptor?

BTW its not 10,000k lol... either 10,000 RPM or 10k RPM

And benches show that any array of Raptors will beat out the same setup (ie: two raptors vs two barracudas)

Raptors have yet to be dethroned when put neck for neck

but with the money you spend on 1 raptor, you can get two 7200RPM drives and RAID 0 them for more performance than 1 raptor.

however, Raptors still beat most drives (excluding 15k SCSI)

My Seagate 7200.11 Raid 0 is hella fast, and completely silent.

I used a single 7200.8 drive for my OS before, and it was noisy when in use, but with these new-fangled 7200.11's in Raid 0, I don't hear a peep.
