Mic jack broke, i need to replace it.

Hello guys, well i have a very nice sound card the mic jack broke and im not about to pay 100 bucks for a new card, so what are my options? get a cheapo card and just have both card on and use the mic on the new one. Maybe get one of those usb cards that come with a headphone and mic jack? and just use th for my ventrilo. I dont want to blow money way i just need the mic jack really.. any has any ideas? thank you.

Well you can't have two sound cards running on one system, they will most likely conflict with each other. I would invest in a usb microphone, my friend uses one on his usb headset and he uses a soundcard at the same time.

If you're very good at soldering, you may be able to solder a replacement on . My uncle gets jobs like this all the time from me - He solders furitively all day for his job, so he's prtty good at it. Otherwise either use onboard for mic or get a usb mic.

usb mic now that sounds interesting ill give it a go (and my onboard sound card well doesnt seem to work i think its a driver problem or maybe because is on while my oter sound card is on, ill try to disable to soundcard and just enable the onboard one)

Also, does your case have a front panel mic connector. You could hook up the front panel connector to the soundcard (I think) Then use front panel for mic in.

YES YES IT DOES!!!! but i tried to conect it and well to be honest i wasnt able to, i build my whole pc but.. i never pluged that in i guess i have to try i lost the manual :S but i ean it shouldnt be that hard! heck i will try that you are absolutly right

It was a pain in the arse to connect on my old case. But my new akasa case all the plugs were set up right...just plugged straight in. You only need to figure out -
Gnd
Mic +
Mic -
to get the mic set up. (from memory - could be wrong)

this help in any way to try and find where to plug it into? - gives the shape the connector should be, and what wires go into it

thank you for the picture mine is an asus tho, but it gives me an idea i will keep looking my sound card doesnt have any extra plugs inside afaik but maybe my motherboard has that option been onboard and all.
