ATI X2 is better choice at the moment. TBH, I'm sick of nVidias drivers :|

I suppose 8800Ultras/Quadros/FireGL's would require you to sell your soul, house, kids, wife, and clothes

Hey don't knock the Quadros =) It's only reminding me how much money I've dumped into them!

And as far as the topic on hand is concerned, the 3870 X2 is the best bet..

What you hear is not what is always true. I don't know why people recommend things off what they hear, but not experience. I've had my 3870X2 for just under a week and am yet to have a SINGLE driver issue. Both companies drivers are just fine, only morons mess them up

i think im going to get a 9800GTX SSC and just upgrade to sli in the future and then even tri sli after that (long time from now)

and imo the GX2 is SOOO worth the extra $200 considering its 40% ish better as the last graph of bench marks says.
Yup. That exact benchmark site made me buy 9800GTX.

I was going to get the GX2 as well, but I decided on 9800GTX. You'll like it, if you get it. I love my cards.

I'm also eligible to step up in ~90 Days with eVGA's step up program, another great factor in my choice.

(Then again, the 4870X2 is coming too)

Btw, benchmarks =/= real world performance
I'd say Crysis is a very valid Benchmark. In fact, it is the only benchmark that even means "real world performance."
