IFX-14 vs TRUE?

Thread Starter
Prices aside, let's say that they were both lapped and had 2x80CFM fans in push pull... what would the approx temp difference be and in who's favor?
With 2 fans the TRUE wins out, but the IFX-14 can mount a third fan.
TRUE.

Haha... that link reeeaaalllyy quickly degraded into TRUE vs Xigmatek

From the looks of it, the TRUE and IFX are basically the same with high CFM fans... but the IFX performs significantly better than the TRUE with lower CFM fans... probably because of the fin density right?

Also because of the SURFACE AREA. The IFX is really 2x TRUE mounted on the same Heatsink.

ITS A GIANT!

I think I'll stray from the beaten path and try out an IFX-14...
IMO, it looks better anyways (and it'll match my HR-05 SLI IFX )

Really depends:

IFX-14 and the "TRUE" 120 are wayyy Different

Now the IFX-14 vs. TRU 120 is a better comparison

People forget that the Thermalright Ultra 120's have two versions: Extreme and regular.

the IFX-14 would beat a Thermalright Ultra 120 because it is essentially two Thermalright Ultra 120's on the same heatpipes - allowing faster/greater heat dissipation and a bigger heat capacity due to more weight/ absorption from more metal in general.

Now if you compare the IFX-14 to a Thermalright Ultra 120 EXTREME. they are very different because the Ultra 120 Extreme has more heatpipes than the IFX-14. Not to mention is quite a ways thicker than the non-extreme Ultra 120.

Now if you really want to compare an IFX-14 to a TRUE120, I would favor the TRUE120

However, if it was a TRU120 vs. the IFX-14, the IFX-14 wins (due to above stated facts)

Alot of people miss these points, an IFX-14 is NOT two TRUE's put together.

Why does everyone still recommend the TRUE when most reviews say that the IFX-14 is generally a few Celsius cooler? I can see that the price difference wouldn't make it worth the purchase over the TRUE... but couldn't the same argument be made about purchasing the Tuniq, Xigmatek or Vendetta 2? They're only a few degrees warmer than the TRUE and a decent bit cheaper...

Well, if IFX also has the backplate cooler on it, so that might give it some boosted points. I decided to go with the TRUE over it though.

I'm not following your point at all. The TRUE 120 is very similar to the TRU 120. The only difference is the larger amount of heatpipes connecting the fins to the base.

From you post it seems as if the TRU120 is better than the TRUE...
