Wii, PS3 or X360? Read carefully - Page 3

I have a Wii and the games for it kinda suck. SSBB isnt a huge improvment from the last game, I mean its fun but it gets boring.

I like my 360 as long as it doesn't get the RROD. The games for the 360 are great for just about any kind except RPG.

Wii - 512MB flash memory (fixed, with an SD card slot)
Xbox 360 - 20-120GB hard drive (proprietary, expensive)
Playstation 3 - 40-???GB hard drive (upgradeable with any off-the-shelf hard drive, cheap). I believe that the higher-end models of the PS3 also have memory card readers.
the higher capacity PS3's have memory card readers ... yes ... the PS3 hard drive capacity maxes at 320 at the moment ...

xbox live is £40 (dunno in the states maybe $50) a year which is expensive ... but you can play live without a gold account (paid account), you get limited access, i cant remember what the limits were though.

good luck on choosing between

It's sounding like an xbox live subscription would probably not be worth the money for you.
i have to freakin agree with you...nice

then i'll be choosing PS3...now lets look the price...brb

on wii the game is in MONO sound (only 1 speaker)
a ps3 is only $50 more than a 360 and has WIRELESS CONTROLLERS (360 has wired for rock band)
ps3 ftw.

Not true. The Wii supports Dolby Surround. The Xbox 360 version of Rock Band now has wireless controllers (guitars at least) available.

Well, I have owned all 3 systems and currently own a PS3 and an Xbox 360. Until recently the 360 had an obvious advantage due to having a larger library of titles. Xbox Live is also decent for downloading episodes from TV series, movies, etc. However, in all fairness the Xbox is the most expensive, or at least it was for me. I bought the Elite, a year of Live, and of course most stuff on Live costs a nice amount of dough. I think Xbox has seen it's peek and a few titles like Alan Wake and Fable 2 will still be coming out this year. Past that it is up in the air.

PS3 is awesome as it has a built in Blu Ray player, the best Blu Ray player available mind you. PS3 sports firmware upgrades, you can throw Linux on it, upgrade the Hard Drive, memory cards from cameras, etc., stream multiple movie formats from your computer (easier than Xbox by far), and of course Blu Tooth accessories. The downside is the PS3's lack of exclusive content compared to it's competitors. However, this year and early next year is going to be a great year for the PS3. Not to mention the online stuff is free and constantly being improved.

The Wii was a novelty item for me and I can only play so long at one time. Since I have sold my Wii many other good games have come out. If I had the spare dough I would buy one again to play some of the good single player games, Wii fit, Mario kart, SSB, and Wii's new online service for downloadable modern games (Wii Ware). The Wii is just getting some pretty decent looking titles from 3rd party developers (The Conduit, Gyrostar). Don't forget some games will feel enhanced due to different a control scheme like Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 or Tiger Woods to an extent.

Well, if you want a system that is staple, but has constant expenses get the Xbox. If you want a system that has great potential, keeps improving, has a lot of other features, but has yet to have it's year with several near titles get the PS3. If you want some novelty feeling to your games and aren't too concerned about high def. graphics, but like the idea of playing with the family get the Wii.

Personally, since you are looking at a new 1080p LCD TV I would get a PS3 for your hard core needs, Blu Ray Player, and more high def. games. However, it would be a great compliment to have a Wii as well for it's shorter, more social oriented games. Keep in mind it does have some good single player games as well.

PM for any game recommendations or TV recommendations.

halo3 SUCKS. forget about it, but you could get em on pc. GT3 is on pc and i assume rock band will come too.
however, i think pc lacks split screne co op (its usually the case)

IF YOU GET THE PS3: get the 80GB. its $100 more, but it also comes with motorstorm (pretty fun) which covers some of that cost, and it plays ps2 games if you ever want one (40gb wont). and more usb inputs. the 40gb might lack the memory card reader, but im not sure.

I will try to be unbiased.

Wii:
The Wii is fun if the Game is made by Nintendo. Most other games suck. Also, I do not believe that you will be able to make your own character with the Wii version of Rock Band.

PS3:
Exports in 1080p and has a Blu-Ray player. Has mostly JRPG's. If you are into Japanese style RPG's or GT5 and blowing 600+ on a console, go ahead. The tech will keep you up there. Possibly future proofed?

360:
At the moment, the best console out there. Hands down best internet service, lots of exclusives, games that are on both 360 or PS3 look better on the 360 (currently), best GamePad for Shooters. If you like Shooters, you just found your home.

Note: From my play of both, GH3 and RB play the same on both 360 and PS3.
[/UNBIASED]
Extra note: Someone has still yet to explain to me personally how the PS3 will beat the 360. Every game I have played on the PS3 I have loved better when I played it on the 360. And absolutely zero of the PS3 exclusives held my attention for more than 10 minutes.
