Sheer fun factor? Wii
Better graphics, online, and 1080p? PS3 or 360, I'd say PS3 simply for BluRay and some great upcoming games. Like someone else has said, X360 is in it's prime right now, but that doesn't mean it won't be a great console in the months to come.

tl;dr PS3/X360

i would go with xbox for several reasons.
1) Equal graphics when compared to ps3
2) better online and more downloadable content
3) xbox live has better support than ps3
4) Xbox put in an offer to sony for blu-ray (should be getting it soon)
5) new motherboards never get red rings of death
6) Largest online community, and it has the best games...Halo 3, GOW , GOW 2 coming out in november

PS3 40gb lacks of memory card reader and backwards compatibility with PS1 games or PS2 games? or both??
I have both the 360 & PS3. So far I am a bit disappointed with the PS3 as a gaming console but with some of the newer games coming out, hopefully that will change my mind. I would say if you want to game with killer graphics then IMO the 360 is better. Please do not yell at me, it's just my opinion. But my PS3 is a very slick console that lets me watch Blue-Ray, surf the net (if I wanted) fold etc...I am so all over the Blur Ray thing such a great format.

to date I see better graphics, games for the 360.

http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/Comparison

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3 Scroll down to "Retail configurations".

The only difference between the 60GB and 80GB is that the 60GB supports nearly every game, and the 80GB supports most. And of course the HDD size.

In order of best to buy, I'd say 60>80>20>40 if you play your old games a lot, if not but instead you play online games a lot, then 40>80>60>20.

ok that helped me a lot ...i think the 40gb will be...and i'll have to buy it in the US...in a store or online. In my country is more expensive. 450 or 500 for it and 500 for the one with a game and a blu-ray movie...
