Ok, I just picked up a new 500GB WD Caviar. I pop it in and load up windows and nada. Nothing is showing up at all, not in my computer and also not in disk management. Any help at all would be really appreciated.

This the only HDD, how are you viewing disk management?

Anyway if you are in Windows via another HDD then D/L Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools, it'll fix anything with a WD drive.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Yes, this is my 2nd HDD in this pc. I'm going to D/L those tools, hopefully they help.

make sure you are using either the sata power or the legacy power, not both. This could cause your drive to not spin up.

Also, check in the BIOS to make sure its being recognized there. Even though SATA is supposed to be hot plug, a lot of times they wont show up in windows unless the BIOS sees them.

I'm not sure what you mean by Legacy or Sata power. Both of my drives are Sata drives, the first one I can see in BIOS the new one does not show up. I see a blank spot in the Sata space and when I try to auto detect it nothing happens.

If its not showing up in your bios then the problem is either really simple like checking the wires or pretty grave like your hard drive is defective.

the WD drives have both the SATA power (the 7 pin power cord right next to the SATA data cord) as well as a 4 pin Legacy port like the ones on old IDE drives (Molex 4 pin)

If you have both plugged in the drive wont spin up.

Also, do you know if you are using ACHI in the BIOS or IDE Emulation?

Oh, yeah. I'm using Sata power.
