TBH with the new revisions of Phenoms coming out, I don't think there is much of a gap between Intel and AMD as far as gaming performance. However it won't be long before we see the showdown between Shanghi and Nehalem.

You won't be disappointed going with a Phenom X3 or X4. Also, with the Radeon HD4xxx series coming out.. AMD has some fight left in it for sure.

"Buy Intel"--If you don't have anything nice to say, stay out of the AMD section.

Sounds like somebody cannot read the writing on the wall: Waste of money = never smart. This isn't Corvette Vs Porsche, this is FASTER Vs Marketing hype, secrecy, and utter denial... Check MY SIG for the rig I'm running... Some of us can READ the writing and shop smart. The guy is trying to HELP out, not swindle... Mmmm how do those magic mushrooms taste ;-)

If you want to support AMD, then force them to admit defeat and get back to preparing to beat the count and get ON their feet. Spending money on AMD's vastly inferior product merely enables them — 1 more dollar at a time — to stay in dreamland pretending they are competitive... Write them a personal letter of approval or disapproval if you want to really grab someone's attention. Don't reward bad business, deceptive marketing and a fat wallet CEO/Exec boards. They all have golden parachutes, the rest of their workers could crumble if they pulled out. Remember who's at the top and who's getting rich. There's always someone sneaking off with some profit when a business goes down... Always.
I know most of you read all that hype they put out "complete x86 redesign blah blah," Who needs to redesign the wheel when it already rolls? Go AMD- now if they'd only take their corporate heads out of the sand.. *SQWAULK!*

If you want to stick with AMD, I would suggest waiting for better and cheaper motherboard that supports the 9850 to come out. I was tempted to build a 9850 rig, but the 790X(FX) chipset based motherboards are so expensive. Most 770 and 780 chipset based motherboards won't support 125w cpus. On the other hand, most cheap P35 chipset based motherboard can oc a Q6600 to 3ghz.

So many people quick to jump on people here. Whats wrong with asking the OP his reasons for buying AMD? Its not like he said "Buy intel or be the dumbest person on the planet!1!"

Relax people.

I think snowman's recomendation gets my vote for AMD build.

V12V12 - What large company or business are you in high authority of?

AMD isnt a 'Bad business' and by buying their products, you arent supporting a 'bad business' Its called competition, im sorry but what you have said in that long rant of yours just makes you out to be a fool, i say this because from your post your are painting everyone with the sentence 'If you buy AMD you obviously dont know what products to buy' - Business is about competition, and at present AMD are being beaten by Intel due to intels current technology

Deceptive marketing?

No. Just marketing
They have to sell their product and give reasons why it deserves you money, what are they gonna put?

2.4GHz Phenom Processor information: Uh Yeah, its like got 4 cores, its alrite i guess...buy it...please? Hey look a squirrel...

Mmm im sure they would be flying out the stores!

A few years ago, AMD were stomping all over Intel - Should we of not supporting Intel because they were a bad business? Should intel of just gone away? No. Because they improved and now have quality products

And so do AMD, amd have good products for good prices

My AMD Processor has never left me in a situation where i think 'I wish i went intel'

Also

Not everyone wants to go intel and be the same as everyone else, its called personal choice, let people be free to buy what they want without pressure from others who critize their decision, its their money they are spending and if they are happy - Brilliant! Unless they are spending your money, and this goes for everyone - Don't critisize their decision

Eurgh what a rant.

Why do intel owners have to flame this thread. Give him advice on his AMD build and let it be. Some of you people surprise me with your arrogance. I have both AMD and Intel and I still love my AMD. Why do I love it? Because it performs well and does everything the intel would do give me a break sheesh.

Edit: Those 9850be processors are pretty nice from what I've seen on some reviews as well as people on this forum have gotten a few of these bad boys past 3ghz.

IIRC every AMD CPU has the chance of getting to 3GHz, ive even seen X2 3800's getting to 3Ghz!

Brisbanes are generally good OC'ers

Oh...

Hi there

[Just messin with ya ]

It is a good choice to go AMD, he'll get the performance he pays for, they perform fine

It has been proven that the CPU doesnt have much of an effect in game FPS also

£10 says that if i sat a person down on 2 computer's, the person isnt a computer hobbiest, on computer number 1 is an E4500 and on the second computer is a X2 4600, i say he wouldnt be able to tell the difference if he spends like an hour doing what he would normally
