This is absolutely not true.

Best bang for the buck? How could you possibly reach that conclusion? Expreview has clearly shown us the 9800GTX performs only around 4-5% better than the 8800GTS G92, overall. The 8800GTS G92 generally costs at least $75-100 less. (At Newegg, the price range of the 8800GTS G92 is $220 to $260; while the 9800GTX ranges from $300 to $400). Do the math. I feel confident in saying that (for anyone caring about price-to-performance ratio at all) the 9800GTX is an utter waste of money.

So the 8800GTS is not "high end" to you because it isn't labeled as a "GTX" - even though it performs almost exactly the same as the 9800GTX? Those terms mean nothing when comparing performance... or anything else for that matter. A name is just a name. Nothing more.

Who cares? Even if that is true, it's meaningless in regards to actual performance (and price-to-performance).

You can sit and play the name game all day long, it still doesn't make the 9800GTX "the best bang for the buck".

Oh, I forgot, the 8800GTS isn't in the "high end segment". Well If you're trying to exclude the 8800GTS G92 from the equation by saying it's not "in the high end segment"; then you're putting subjective labels over real math and performance data.

Besides, where has nVidia said "the 8800GTS isn't high end", anyway?

$100 price difference between the 3870x2 and 9800GTX? There is no difference, the price is about the same on Newegg and you can't compare a 3870x2 to a 9800GTX, it's like comparing apples to oranges.

Can't you see your just buying into all their marketing crap? Who the hell plays at 2560x1600??? or 1920x1200 for that matter? Get real man. Vast majority of gamers still play at 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 960. Use your brain! Why don't you ever see those so-called "benchmarks" compare video cards at normal resolutions? Why? Just think for a second... Because at normal resolutions your getting so many frames, it doesn't even matter! Your facts and sources are invalid and allow me to reiterate, their marketing has suceeded on you! Let me rephrase: Their brainwashing has suceeded on you!

Exactly

Honestly Brythe, go on believing what you want to believe, no one really cares. The only person that cares is the corporation that has sucessfully got you to pull out cash for their products. You will never see me in arguements on why A is better than B and vice versa, because it's just stupid.

I game at 1024 x 768

Not because of my 6200 (Though it is limiting) but because I can't stand tiny text

Heh, depends on the resolution your playing at. If your playing 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 960 resolutions with a 3870X2 or 9800GX2 what's the point of having a fast card? it's just a waste of money. As long as the card can maintain a constant 60fps in the games you play who cares how fast the card is.

im going to stop arguing with you because u seem to have no information on the product u are defending and the one u are bashing. i on the other hand can open a new window and check on newegg to see if what i said was right. and here it is, the cheapest 9800gtx and the cheapest 3870x2.

-PNY XLR8 GeForce 9800 GTX $289.99 ($269.99 after $20.00 Mail-In
Rebate)

-SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 3870 X2 1GB $389.99 ($359.99 after $30.00 Mail-In
Rebate)

and why arent they comparable? they are both graphics cards. they are both in the same segment of the market and they provide similar performance. one of which does so for $100 less.

and theres no reason to be rude. i use my brain plenty. something which struck me, u seem to have the tone of a conspiracy theorist. also, why dont u fill out ur system specs.

so your little survey seems to have backfired on you. at the time of posting 71.43% play at 1600x1200 and above(hi-res). and more people play on 1920x1200 than on 1280x1024. haha. reality check ftw

and most ppl who play on lower res dont do so because they prefer it..its either because they dont have a highest end gpu or a big monitor. someone with a 8800gtx/9800gtx/3870x2 and a 22" monitor wouldnt play, say COD4 on 1280x1024 because they prefer it. crysis is played on low res because
..well its crysis.

so you are saying that all the thousands of tech review sites that do gfx card reviews have no idea what they are doing? i didnt link to the 3dmark06 page. i linked to the crysis page, real world performance like u asked for. atleast i can back up my claims and comments with valid facts.
