Agreed, which is why i'm going to be sticking with the DX9/XP combo until windows 7 is out and developers agree to stop supporting DX9. I might not even switch then tbh just because there hasn't been many fun games being released for the pc.

No, it's DX10.0 which runs slightly faster then DX9.

DX10.1 in Assassin's Creed disabled some post-proccessing affects which is why Ubisoft is taking about DX10.1 support in a patch.

Wait til the new stalker, or try crysis.
Oh, and go look for some of the old DX10 demos.
Like Lost planet? that game is purely made of shaders so people with mid-end cards should not play it at maximum

no point in using DX10, if it does nothing but reduce FPS for no good reason... Not to mention Vista is annoying as ever... XP / Server 2003 is fine until Windows 7...

I know there were claims in magazines that it does run better in DX10, but I haven't seen that personally.
I'd have to look it up in game for specifics, but medium/high with 2xAA at 1680x1050. Average roughly 30 FPS, although it'll dip and get a little choppy if I've got loads of guards after me.

And another thing that I hate about DX10 that I failed to mention...how come I can't OC as high when I play games in DX10. The same game in DX9 will let me OC to about 825 - 830 core clock on my 2900XT. In DX10, I'd be lucky to hit 800.
