GT needs PCI-E 2.0.
I know PCI-E is backward and forward compatible but I think GTS would be better for me cause I have PCI-E 1

The GTS will perform marginally better than the GT. I would just get the cheaper of the two.

It makes almost no difference, if you have pcie 2.0 card in your pcie 1 slot. Go for 512mb GT. Its cheaper than GTS and i think you can OC it to GTS speed.

I think everyone should specify the G80 core GTS or the G92 core GTS. Its not easy to follow at all in this thread.

The poster is asking about the G80 core (He refers to it as being PCIE 1)

I think he wants to upgrade to an 8800GTS 320MB/640Mb

I am looking for the G92 core (512MB)
I read from NVidia that it doesn't require PCI-E 2.0

Agreed, but You can overclock GTS to GTX speed

I don't really care very much about the price but I also wont rebuild my system.
So, recommend me the best without replacing anything.
Thanks!

The G92 core video cards (GT, GTS 512MB and 9 series) are all PCIE 2.0. They will run just fine with PCIE 1.1.

Another little question:

If I buy a water cooled card, do I have to have whole system with water cooling?

Depending on the revision, your board can support the dual core conroes! Here is the Gigabyte CPU support list. Maybe pick up a dual core for $70 used, and then get a GT 512Mb for $150...
