Nvidia's GPU scaling, Can it help me at lower than NAtive Res?

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
recently purchased a 24 inch 1920*1200 LCD and obviously it is too much for my 320MB 8800GTS. Now I want to drop the Res down to gain some FPS, But I heard that GPU scaling in the Nvidia CP might help me get a better image at lower than native res?
Can someone help me with this issue? I have four options in the CP regarding GPU scailing;
1.Use Nvidia Scaling
2.Use Nvidia scaling with fixed-aspect ratio
3.Use my display's built-in scaling
4.Do not scale
How could scaling help me not just in Crysis but in other games in general.
And how do you enable the scaling feature? Mine is stuck on use my display's built in scaling? The other options are greyed out?!?
Thanx

I don't mean to doubt your intelligence, but this sounds like it might be the issue:

Have you clicked on the button labeled, "Change to the Native Resolution", or is that grayed out as well?

If I remember correctly, then those 4 options became available after I clicked on that button. But if this isn't the fix, then this is way out of my league!

Just use the built in.
